The DSLV Ski Instructor Level 1 Course with the Schweitzer Team is the perfect starting point for your career in snow sports. This training and certification course provides the essential knowledge and practical skills you need to teach skiing professionally, safely, and with confidence.

The Level 1 Ski Instructor Course is designed for both motivated beginners and aspiring ski instructors who have already gained some experience working in a ski school. The course prepares you for the DSLV Level 1 Ski Instructor Certification and qualifies you to teach beginners and intermediate skiers within the DSLV learning levels Green and Blue.

Throughout the course, you’ll develop your skiing technique, teaching methodology, and instructional skills. You’ll learn how to organise groups safely, explain skiing techniques clearly, and structure engaging ski lessons. At the same time, you’ll improve your own skiing performance and gain valuable insight into the teaching philosophy of the German Ski Instructors Association (DSLV).

Who is the DSLV Level 1 Course for?

  • You are at least 16 years old and physically active
  • You can ski parallel turns safely on black slopes at a controlled, sporty pace
  • You enjoy working with people, especially children and teenagers
  • You want to teach skiing professionally and turn your passion into a career or seasonal job

Prepare for your DSLV Level 1 Ski Instructor Certification:

As an officially recognised DSLV Training Ski School, we provide comprehensive preparation for the DSLV Level 1 Ski Instructor Certification.
Throughout the course, you’ll improve your skiing technique, develop modern teaching skills, and learn how to plan and deliver structured ski lessons for beginners and intermediate skiers.

  • Theory Exam

    The theory exam is completed online through the German Ski Instructors Association (DSLV).
    The mandatory online course “Teaching Sustainable Outdoor Sports – Level 1” is also part of the certification requirements.

  • Practical Skiing Assessment

    During the course, you’ll practise four possible technical tasks. The examination consists of one assessed technical ski run, evaluated by an official DSLV examiner together with a state-certified ski instructor from the Schweitzer Team.

  • Teaching Assessment
    You’ll also complete a prepared teaching session, where your instructional and communication skills will be assessed.

Admission Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 16 years at the start of the course
  • Valid first aid certificate (minimum 9 training units, issued within the last two years, in-person course only)
  • Recent photo (JPEG format)
  • Completion of Part 1 with the Schweitzer Team or participation in DSLV Training Course 1 or proof of at least 50 hours of teaching experience at a DSLV Professional Ski School
  • Successful completion of the DSLV online theory exam
  • NachweiCertificate for the mandatory online course “Teaching Sustainable Outdoor Sports – Level 1”

All required documents must be submitted to the DSLV at least 15 days before the examination date.

Everything you need to know about Level 1 Training

Course Format & Duration:

For beginners

  • Part 1 & Part 2 including certification
  • 6 training days

For Participants with Previous Experience

  • Part 2 including certification
  • 4 training days

Proof of participation in DSLV Training Course 1 or a minimum of 50 hours of teaching experience at a DSLV Professional Ski School is required.

Course Dates & Locations:

Part 1

  • 12. 12–13 November 2026 (Thursday & Friday) Stubai Glacier, Austria

Part 2 & Certification

  • 14. 14–15 November 2026 (Saturday & Sunday) Stubai Glacier, Austria
  • 28. 28–29 November 2026 (Saturday & Sunday) Zugspitze, Germany
    (Certification Exam: 29 November 2026)

If snow conditions on the Zugspitze are insufficient, the training and examination will take place at the Stubai Glacier instead.

Mandatory Costs:

  • DSLV Certification Fee: €150.00
    (Includes the online theory exam and mandatory online course)
    The invoice is issued directly by the German Ski Instructors Association (DSLV).
  • DSLV Training Manual: €29.90
    Provided and invoiced by the Schweitzer Team.

Additional Costs:

  • SkipasSki pass
  • Travel expenses (car sharing possible)
  • Accommodation in the Stubai Valley: Hotel with half board – €86.00 per person, per night (double room)
  • Optional: accommodation in Garmisch
  • Lunch and drinks

Minimum Number of Participants:

  • 5 participants
